Mama Noureen Nalwanga, popularly known as NyaUganda, died on Sunday evening after she was hit by a campaign vehicle during the Linda Mwananchi rally. The incident occurred amidst broader reports of violence, physical injuries, and destruction of property during the political event.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga visited the deceased’s family home in Mbuni Estate to offer condolences, while demanding that law enforcement officers handle the criminal inquiry without political bias.

The governor noted that Homa Bay County remains an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) stronghold, citing the party's historic role in expanding constitutional freedoms, including free speech and peaceful assembly. However, she emphasized that political affiliation must not shield individuals from legal accountability when lives are lost.
