Kenya possesses the infrastructure and operational capacity required to host both the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to senior officials at the Ministry of Sports.

Speaking before a parliamentary committee, the Sports Principal Secretary assured lawmakers that ongoing facility upgrades and venue developments will leave the country fully prepared to manage the showcase events of Africa’s premier football tournament.

Kenya is set to co-host the 2027 showpiece alongside neighbouring East African nations Uganda and Tanzania in a joint tournament dubbed "Pamoja AFCON". However, competition remains active among the three partner states over which country will secure the prestigious opening and closing matches and their accompanying ceremonies.
